Yellow Jackets wrap up regular season with road loss at ZRC

The Chester Yellow Jacket baseball team wrapped up the regular season Thursday with an 8-4 road loss at Zeigler Royalton Christopher.

Chester finishes conference play with a record of 1-7. Now 5-18 overall, the Yellow Jackets begin post-season play on Monday. Chester will host Sparta at 4:30pm at the Cohen Complex as part of the Red Bud Regional.

The Tornadoes scored three times in the first and held a 4-0 lead after three innings. Chester cut the lead in half with two runs in the fourth before ZRC plated four more in the bottom of the fifth.

Chester would add two more runs in the top of the seventh.

Ethen Eggemeyer took the loss for Chester.

Eggemeyer was 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and RBI. Curt Meyer was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Brady Kelkhoff was 1-for-3 with an RBI while Ethan Bert was 1-for-3 with a run scored.
