The Chester Lady Yellow Jackets advanced to the regional semifinals after a 7-2 win over Vienna Monday at the Cohen Sports Complex.
Chester will head to Anna Jonesboro today to play top-seed Pinckneyville at 4:30pm.
Vienna scored both runs in the top of the first inning. Then senior pitcher Logan Colvis and the Lady Yellow Jacket defense slammed the door shut.
Chester tied the game with single runs in the first and second innings and then took the lead for good with a single run in the bottom of the third.
Chester added two more in the fourth and two more in the fifth en route to the win.
Colvis allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits. She struck out three.
Claire Junger was 3-for-3 for the Lady Yellow Jackets with two RBI. Colvis (RBI) and Kaylee James were each 2-for-4 while Miah Mitchell was 1-for-3 with a homer and RBI.
